HPR's Gary Hickling flew over from Honolulu to emcee this event which highlighted the talents of Melanie Oldfather, Gerdine Markus, Anthony Maroudas, Julianne Cross, Kelly Miles, Mark Sheffield, Kaui Trainer, and Marius Stranger. Another fundraising event is planned for 3/29/09 at 3pm with music by Strauss, Menotti, Mozart, Handel, Purcell, Bizet, Delibes and others...an accomplished ensemble of vocalists inlcue: Melanie Oldfather, Gerdine Markus, Kelly Miles, Marius Stranger, Kaui Trainer, Mark Sheffield, Julianne Cross, Barry Brandes, Amy Yamasaki...Barry Brandes, recently arrived from NYC Metropolitan Opera brings a bass/baritone voice to the event. Locally known and respected pianists Zeke Israel and Don Boyd will bring lively accompaniment to the singers on EHCC's recently acquired Yamaha piano. In addition, award winning and world known baritone Stephen Salters will be the event's special guest. (He performs at UHH Performing Art Center 3/l3)...The concert will be followed by a pupu reception in the cafe.
